Targeted Training From The Specialists

Koso Kent Introl (KKI) is dedicated to equipping its people with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to provide the very best products and service to its customers. We also recognise the importance of keeping our customers up to date with the latest developments in the valve industry so that they can effectively specify, operate and maintain today’s increasingly complex valves.

Our focused training activities include in-house training modules run by our own specialists, external courses run by industry-recognised bodies, apprenticeships for newcomers to the industry and placement schemes for local university students.

On-site Training

In-house training is offered to all employees to equip them with the skills they need to excel at their jobs. We also provide a comprehensive series of training modules for customers, which can be tailored to suit individual needs. As control valves become increasingly advanced to handle more demanding processes, we provide training for the people who will be responsible for operating, maintaining and specifying this sophisticated equipment.

The training modules we offer can be taken individually or as a complete course. They include:

- Introduction to the concept and construction of control valves.
- Valve and actuator assembly.
- Actuator and positioner calibration and actuator reversal.
- Maintenance, overhaul and troubleshooting.
- Elementary principles of sizing and selecting control valves.
- Advanced sizing, selection and noise level calculation.
- Sizing and selection of control valves using sizing software.

EIC Training

The EIC presents a series of these workshops around the country. Typically they cover:

- Valve fundamentals.
- Control valve sizing and selection.
- Severe service introduction.
- Choke valves.
- PED.
- ATEX.
- Product catalogues.

Apprenticeships

Recognising that there is a skills shortage in the manufacturing and engineering sector, KKI offers two apprenticeships per year for promising newcomers to the industry. Apprenticeships are a means of ensuring that the business has the skills it needs to meet the opportunities and challenges of the next five to ten years - and beyond.

University Placement Programme

The KKI Technical Department offers a 12-month work placement each year to two students from the University of Huddersfield. Typically these students are studying Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Computer Aided Engineering. During their placement, students have the opportunity to get involved in factory acceptance testing, research and development testing, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Several students have returned to take up full-time positions with KKI after completing their degrees.
